Keystone Heights Heritage Commission Meeting Agenda June 17,2025

ANYONE WISHING TO ADDRESS THE CITY COUNCIL REGARDING ANY TOPIC ON THIS EVENING'S AGENDA IS REQUESTED TO COMPLETE A CARD AND RETURN TO THE CITY CLERK.  SPEAKERS ARE RESPECTFULLY REQUIRED TO LIMIT THEIR COMMENTS TO THREE (3) MINUTES.

THE CITY COUNCIL PROHIBITS THE USE OF CELL PHONES AND PAGERS WHICH EMIT AN AUDIBLE SOUND DURING ALL MEETINGS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, FIRE AND RESCUE OR HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS ON CALL.  PERSONS IN VIOLATION WILL BE REQUESTED TO LEAVE THE MEETING.

Old Business
5. Shadowbox Memorials for Police Officers & Volunteer Fire Department (2025)

Gail has the fire department completed.

Police department should be done in a few days.

Still not sure if there are police officers able to come to 4th of July.

6. Fourth of July Pie Baking Contest

All flyers are completed.  

Need to shop for the prices.

7. Discussion of Storage Unit Use

The plan is to place items in the storage unit.

8. Ethics Training Update

Ethics training for the Heritage Commission is the sunshine law section.  It took Deirdre Murphy 15 mins to complete.

9. Update and Discussion on Museum of Southern History

Chairwoman Arnold asked what they thought of the workshop.  Mr. John Silva said he still has questions.  Chairwoman Arnold would like a new workshop.  She would like it to be 2 weeks out.

Mrs.Drew Bell stated the staff is working on recommendations regarding the museum.  Chairwoman Arnold, states the board is wanting an answer as it is in the 2nd month. Chairwoman Arnold states the reason she did not get to stay in Jax was DEI. The exhibits would be rotated.  She states the museum has 6 storage units. 

They have a very large art collection, weapons, and textiles. The City would lease the property to the museum.  The risk to the City is none at all, stated by Chairwoman Arnold.

They would like Rich Komando to attend the workshop.  Starke is interested in having the Southern Heritage Museum located there.  Keystone has intellectual while Starke does not. Chairwoman Anrold states no action is an action.

 

 

10. Four County Historical Roundtable Scheduled Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 10am to 1pm

The meeting is scheduled.  No food or drinks are going to be provided.  Chairwoman Arnold will make them aware.
